It was love at first swipe...
We actually crossed paths in person long before we ever crossed paths in the digital ether that we so fondly know as Tinder. This occurred all the way back in 2003 at The Derby (a once beloved Los Angeles music venue that now houses a Chase Banking Branch). The venue was hosting a secret Kink's cover show headlining, one Elliott Smith (RIP). Neither of us is exactly sure if we made contact with one another, but Jacob did have a short exchange with Smith after the show while smoking a cigarette, so that was pretty awesome and yea, he seemed as sad as you think he would. Cut to:
Los Angeles, CA - November 13, 2014 @ 7:19PM
While waiting on the tarmac at LAX, en route to a shoot in Virginia, Élan nonchalantly found herself swiping through Tinder. She had only been on the app for a few weeks and so far it had been pretty abysmal (dating in LA, am I right?). Similarly so, Jacob was hanging on the couch at home after having taken his a-hole of a dog Maggie out for her nightly walk through Stoner Park.
Relatively new to LA for the second time, Jacob had also come to the same realization as Élan that the future of dating was digital and if you wanted to meet someone in modern day Los Angeles, well it's like Jacob's good friend Johnny Newman told him, "You gotta be on an app, bro." And like Élan, being newer to Tinder Jacob hadn't really had much luck with the app either and wasn't sure if he was cut out for dating in the Digital Age.
And then at 7:19pm that all changed forever...
